419 scam - car advertising scam

The following emails are part of an Advance Fee Scam. See our "419" fraud FAQ for more information on such scams.

Yes, there are companies that pay people to advertise on their cars, but these companies are not spamming people with offers to advertise for them because most people with cars would not even meet their very specific requirements (for example, how much you drive per month). Assume any spammed offer like this to be a scam.

In the following scam you will be offered a check to deposit in your bank account. Invariably in such scams the check sender will request you to withdraw money against the check and forward it a person nominated by the sender, usually by Western Union or MoneyGram, which are untraceable. Never forward cash from a check to any third partyu nominated by the check sender. The check will eventually bounce and you'll owe to the bank any amount you have withdrawn against the check. You can also be held criminally liable or charged with fraud.

If you have any suspect email that you want to report or have checked, you can copy and paste the message text into our "Scam-O-Matic" webform for an instant reply.

If you get suspect emails, you can also forward them to our scam-reporting e-mail address
Though you won't normally get a reply we do use your reports to shut down scammers and to warn others.

There is a real company called "HOLMES&SELLERS", but it's a real estate agent in the UK and it has nothing to do with this scam.

MAKE MONEY BY SIMPLY DRIVING YOUR CAR
ADVERTISER WANTED FOR HOLMES&SELLERS
EARN NO LESS THAN $200 WEEKLY TO ADVERTISE ON YOUR CAR.
It is Very Easy and Simple
No Application fees required

How it works

Here's the basic premise of the "paid to drive" concept: HOLMES&SELLERS seeks people -- regular citizens,
not professional drivers -- to go about their normal routine as they usually do,
only with a big advert for "HOLMES&SELLERS" plastered on your car.
The ads are typically vinyl decals, also known as "auto wraps," that almost seem to be painted on the vehicle,
and which will cover any portion of your car's exterior
surface.

What does the company get out of this type of ad strategy? Lots of exposure and awareness.
The auto wraps tend to be colorful and eye-catching and attract lots of attention. Plus,
it's a form of advertising with a captive audience,
meaning people who are stuck in traffic and can't avoid seeing the wrapped car alongside them.
This program will last for 3 months and the minimum period you can participate is 1 month

You will be compensated with a $200 (Two hundred dollars per Week),
which is essentially a "rental" payment for letting our company use the space.
HOLMES&SELLERS shall provide experts that would handle the advert placing on your car.
You will receive an up front payment of $400 (Four hundred dollars) in form of check
for accepting to carry this advert on your car and other weekly payments will also come in the form of checks and delivered at your address weekly.
